Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
By definition, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a short-term therapy technique that can help people find new ways to behave by changing their thought patterns. Our previous experiences and trauma influence the way we react to think, feel and act in new situations. CBT believes that you can challenge yourself by changing your thinking and feeling in order to do something different.
How is CBT used?
At TLC, we commonly help people who are in a state of inertia; feeling like they are unable to overcome or change their negative thoughts which are often based on past experiences. We understand this can be overwhelming. CBT is applied to those negative thoughts and helps reframe your perception of a situation to be based on reality and evidence rather than through the lens of past experiences or trauma.
The holistic and eclectic approach of TLC services allows CBT to be applied for just changing a behavior or mental state or dealing with a chronic mental health condition over an extended period of time. The choice of therapy is always based on the client’s personality, past experiences and comfort.
