Narelle

Counsellor

What made you decide to become a counsellor/psychologist?

I have always had a natural tendency towards people and their stories. I thoroughly enjoyed my psychology and counselling training program. It was a given I would end up as a counsellor, I think!

What is the most rewarding part of being a counsellor/psychologist?

The privilege of connecting with another human being and seeing them find solutions to cope with life’s problems.

What do you bring to helping people?

I bring a creative side to my counselling in addition to other more traditional methods of talking therapies. This can include the use of art, play, music, movement and mindfulness.

What is the one thing you would say to anyone who is thinking about reaching out for some help?

It can be helpful to sort through life’s problems with another human being. In counselling, there is an opportunity to partner with someone who is there just for you, who is looking to understand you and to explore possibilities to cope and grow.
