TLC ANXIETY DE-SENSITISATION PROGRAM
Getting out and about with Confidence
Many participants under the NDIS nominate a desire to re-engage/engage more with the community as one of their goals
The challenge is when anxiety and/or panic attacks limit a participants ability to do this
The challenge is when anxiety and/or panic attacks limit a participants ability to do this
At TLC we regularly support people who have these challenges in becoming more comfortable in these situations
Our approach involves helping the participant to understand:
1. What triggers the anxiety
2. Why they feel and respond this way,
3. How to develop strategies to recognise, manage and overcome the state
The program involves initial consultation with a Psychologist to understand the underlying issues and triggers and then ongoing regluar and practical support by a TLC Therapy Assistant to implement the strategies and exercises.
By the end of a desensitisation program, participants have increased capacity to notice early warning signs of their anxiety, strategies to help diffuse and manage them and have been supported to practice overcoming their fears and learning how to enjoy their life more fully.
